Ray Robertson is the author of eight novels, including 1979 (Biblioasis, 2018,) I Was There the Night He Died (Biblioasis, 2014,) David (Thomas Allen Publishers, 2009; paperback/Biblioasis, 2013,) What Happened Later (Thomas Allen, 2007,) Gently Down the Stream (Cormorant, 2005,) Moody Food (Doubleday, 2002; US: Santa Fe Writers Project, 2006; Biblioasis: 2010,) Heroes (Dundum, 2000; Biblioasis, 2015,) and Home Movies (Cormorant, 1997.) He has authored works of non-fiction including How to Die: A Book About Being Alive (Biblioasis, 2020,) Lives of the Poets (With Guitars) (Biblioasis, 2016,) Why Not? Fifteen Reasons to Live (Biblioasis, 2011; German: Random House, 2012,) and Mental Hygiene: Essays on Writers and Writing (Insomniac, 2003) and one poetry collection, The Old Man in the Mirror Isn’t Me: Last Call Haiku (Exile, 2020.) His work has been translated into several languages. Born and raised in Chatham, Ontario, he lives in Toronto. His latest novel is Estates Large and Small (Biblioasis, 2022.)
